To say that 2020 has not been the year that any of us was expecting would be an understatement. Many of us are feeling lost, lonely, and adrift in a world that is constantly changing around us. We are cut off, literally and figuratively, from the things that bring us the most comfort: family, friends, togetherness. The world seems pretty dark right now and that can seem pretty scary.

In the middle of this, those of you who love and work with yarn have kept making. You’ve kept creating-for comfort, to bring joy and colour into your lives, and to wrap yourselves in warmth. You've crafted beauty and hope into every stitch. You've send words of comfort and kindness, despite your own pain. You've shared small joys and brought tiny glimpses of hope, showing us all how to be better humans. You've made the world just a little bit brighter.

It is in this spirit that we wrap ourselves during Giftapalooza.

The spirit of reaching out to other humans and making connections. Of putting out hope when we feel hopeless. Of gathering small scraps of joy together with friends and strangers and turning those scraps into something amazing. Of lighting a candle. A tentative, flickering bit of light in the darkness. A new beginning.
