Antiope: Amazon, warrior, General

Oh yes, and she’s also Wonder Woman’s aunt!

This tunic is knitted armour. Beautiful. Strong. Wear as a dress in summer. Layered over a long sleeved t-shirt and leggings in collar weather. Antiope is a wardrobe piece you’ll reach for over and over again.

Antiope is a tunic length sweater that can be worn alone, or as a layering piece. The asymmetric vee neck is echoed in offset mitred squares inserted in the side seams. Side panels tilt towards the front and the back of the tunic for a look that is flattering to all shapes and sizes. The textured stitch pattern is created by rolling dice, ensuring an engaging knit from start to finish.

YARN
Indigodragonfly CaribouBaa 100% superwash merino; 398 m/435 yds per 100 g; 4 (4, 4, 5, 5, 5, 5, 6, 6, 6, 7, 7) skeins. Sample colour: Epiphyte Club

GAUGE
28.75 sts and 38 rows per 10 cm/4” in stockinette stitch and pattern stitch, after blocking

Note: row gauge is very important in this pattern. Please ensure you match both stitch and row gauge.

Use needle size(s) required for you to get the above gauges. As a guideline, needles in the range of 2.75 mm/US 2 to 3.5 mm/US 4 would be a good place to start. I am a loose knitter and used 2.75 mm/US 2 needles to get the above gauge.

MATERIALS
* Needles of your choice (size needed to get gauge. See gauge notes for guidelines for choosing a needle size). 80 cm/32” minimum circular needle is recommended for working the offset mitre
* Your preferred needle for working a small circumference in the round: DPNs, magic loop or two short circulars, for working armhole trim

  • 1 d4 (4 sided) or d6 (6 sided) die
  • stitch markers: both removable and stationary
  • tapestry/yarn needle
