Washing & Care Instructions

Superwash yarns (eg. R.O.U.Sport, MerGoat Sock, DK Matter)

Best practise is always to hand wash in cold water using a wool wash and lay flat to dry. That being said, superwash yarns can be washed in your washing machine on cold on a wool or delicate setting using a wool wash like Eucalan or SOAK. We still recommend laying flat to dry. Your enemy is agitation of the fibres, so any machine washing must be very gentle. You can also use a mesh garment bag to further protect the item.

If you have made a swatch, you can test wash it in your machine and see what happens instead of risking a completed garment in the machine.

Non-superwash yarns (eg. Remora Sock, Shark Sport

Hand wash in cold water using a wool wash like Eucalan or SOAK and lay flat to dry. We do not recommend machine washing for non-superwash yarns.

Plant & Silk yarns (eg. Linen Silk Lace/Sock/Sport)

Can be washed in your washing machine on a gentle/delicate cycle and dried in a dryer on a low heat setting. Most plant yarns benefit from being washed and dried in a machine as it soften the fibres. We recommend using a mesh garment bag to protect your item from snagging.

If you have made a swatch, you can test it in your washer and dryer rather than risking a completed garment until you know for certain how the yarn will behave in your machines.
