Learn how to draft a raglan sweater to your measurements!
Because of past raglan fails, I've always been a raglan sweater skeptic--until now! After studying all possible ways to shape a raglan sweater, I now know how to shape a raglan that fits YOU well. In this class you'll learn various ways to shape a raglan armhole and sleeve cap, and how to combine those in a modular way for the best fit for you.
Using your measurements and fit preferences, I will teach you how to draft a raglan pattern template for yourself that you can use as a master pattern alongside any other raglan pattern to create a sweater that fits you well every time. We'll be breaking the process down into tiny steps so that you fully understand each element before we move on to the next one.
In this course, you will learn:
- all about raglan construction (standard raglan, compound raglan, modular raglan, and variations on each)
- various ways to get the best fit
- pros and cons of bottom-up and seamed vs top-down and seamless raglan sweaters
- how to apply ease to your measurements to get a great fitting sweater
- how to shape the raglan armhole and sleeve cap
- how to apply a stitch pattern to your design
- how to shape the body to your fit preferences
- how to shape the sleeves in a number of ways
- best finishing techniques for your sweater
Options
Pricing for this course is offered with options at several levels, such as:
- All students will get a discount on a sweater's quantity of yarn from Indigodragonfly. This can be in stock yarn or custom dyeing.
- Yarn discount options: 10% or 15% one time discount entitles you to a discount on one purchase OR 15% discount on multiple purchases up until December 31, 2025 (this offer may be extended upon request)
- 30 or 60 minute personalized one-on-one sweater consultations with Kim. This time can be used to get individual help with your pattern outside of class, or to talk about specific fit issues you have with raglans, or to get help with any other sweater related issue you'd like help with!
