Fit for Real People (Pati Palmer, Marta Alto) - well loved book about fit using real world, real bodies as models. This focuses on the "tissue fit" method of fitting.
The Palmer Pletsch Compete Guide to Fitting (Pati Palmer, Marta Alto) - an updated approach to the techniques in Fit for Real People. I own this, and love that it gives me options for fit techniques.
Pattern Fitting with Confidence (Nancy Zieman) - This book outlines the "pivot and slide" method of fitting.
Fabric/Yarn Sources:
Blackbird Fabrics (Vancouver BC)- a great selection of woven and knit fabrics. Many of the fabric samples I had in class came from here. I especially love their cotton jersey, Japanese cotton twill, boiled wool, jacquard cotton and range of denims. (I might have a problem)
Thread Count Fabrics (Manitoba) - the BEST selection of jersey prints I've found anywhere.
Fancy Tiger Crafts (Denver CO) - a great range of fabric AND yarn
Stone Mountain and Daughter (Berkley CA) - super exciting range of fabrics including fun jerseys, Japanese linen and canvas fabrics and...well, go look!
A Verb For Keeping Warm (Oakland CA) - beautiful fabrics and yarns, some dyed in-house.
Seattle Yarn (Seattle WA) and Yarns Untangled (Toronto ON) are my two favourite yarn shops that aren't me! They both carry a range of indie dyed yarns and carefully curated commercial yarns, all of the best quality. The owners are both amazing humans who are keeping their bricks and mortar shops alive during the pandemic. Both run regular virtual trunk shows that bring in artisans we rarely see elsewhere!
