Impervious: An Optical Delusion Pattern
Walk through fire
Unfazed by the storm
Stand tall and fierce
You are impervious
Impervious is a vortex shawl that uses specifically dyed yarn and short rows to create layers of wave or flame shapes.
YARN
Sample uses Indigodragonfly CaribouBaa 100% superwash merino; 398 m/435 yds per 100 g; 3 skeins
If substituting yarn:
In order to see the wave pattern appear, choose a colourway with 2-3 distinct colours or tones, and lengths of colour 10-18 cm/4-7 inches long.
FINISHED SIZE
203 cm/80” long (along neck edge)
81.5 cm/32” deep
GAUGE
In garter stitch: 24 sts and 24 garter ridges per 10 cm/4”
In stockinette stitch: 20 sts and 32 rows per 10 cm/4”
Use needle size required for you to get the above gauges.
Guideline: needles in the range of 3.5 mm/US 4 to 4 mm/US would be a good place to start. I am a loose knitter and used 3.5 mm/US 4 needles to get the above gauge.
